A/V Technician

Summary of Role:

  • Provide professional, effective, AVLA support at various customer locations as needed following AAVS standard operating procedures.
  • Test, install, maintain and repair a wide range of AVLA components, equipment and networks.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with AVLA equipment and environments in a timely manner.

Examples of responsibilities for this position include but may not be limited to:

  • Terminating Cat5e and Cat6 (shielded and non-shielded cable)
  • Pulling AV cables
  • Hanging TVs
  • Installing speakers, speaker wire, and configuring amplifiers
  • Building racks and rack mounting equipment
  • Installing cable supports
  • Installing projector mounts
  • Changing projector lamps, filters and performing routine upkeep on projector systems
  • Installing structure (Unistrut / all thread) for rigging
  • Setting up wireless microphones
  • Testing point to point functionality of systems
  • Troubleshooting AVLA systems. Diagnosing and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Cable management and cable labeling
  • Commissioning audio, video and theatrical lighting
  • Setting up DMX lighting fixtures
  • Installing interactive touch displays such as Epson Brightlink
  • Installing video conferencing systems
  • Soldering connections such as XLR connectors
  • Installing software and performing firmware updates
  • Installing video walls
  • Uploading code (Q-SYS, Crestron, AMX)
  • Setting up IP addresses for AV devices

Skills, Abilities, and Attributes:

  • Ability to pass a drug screening, background check and physical
  • Ability to use required tools in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, working and thinking independently as needed
  • Punctual
  • Disciplined with attention to detail
  • Goal oriented with the ability to consistently meet set deadlines in an accurate and timely manner
  • Strong communication skills needed to effectively communicate with clients and team members
  • Coachable mindset
  • Knowledge of basic signal flow for audio, video, and control

Educational and Experience Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver's License, a clean driving record, and reliable transportation required
  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial AVLA industry
  • Certifications such as CTS, Extron, Q-SYS, AMX, Crestron are preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA rules and workplace safety

Physical Requirements:

These physical requirements are necessary to meet the responsibilities and essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb ladders up to 26' tall. Occasional use of a man-lift up to 40' will also be required.
  • Must be able to work in small spaces as needed that may require climbing, kneeling and crouching.
  • Specific vision acuity requirements include close vision, depth perception, and color recognition in order to ensure image quality.
  • Specific hearing requirements include the ability to hear sounds clearly and recognize the difference between them in order to recognize sound quality.

Schedule:

  • Typical business hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Flexibility is necessary for occasional late shifts, weekend shifts, or overnights as special projects may require.
