Lead A/V Technician
Examples of responsibilities for this position include but may not be limited to:
- Assist in the design and planning of audio-visual solutions
- Obtain and maintain relevant manufacturer certifications
- Lead installation field teams on complex AV projects, mentor Level 1 and Level 2 Technicians on site, assigning daily tasks and verifying all quality of work.
- Ensure that all assigned installers maintain proper equipment safety and follow established safety practices.
- Adhering to company performance training apprentices on company procedures, systems, and installation techniques.
- Act as customer liaison on site per project scope and directives – Ensuring all changes to scope, schedule, and costs for projects are communicated to the proper channels.
- Accountable for documenting and communicating service order/project status reports on a daily basis.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and architectural blueprints
- Physically install, set up, and configure AV equipment (LEDs, projectors, video conferencing systems, etc.)
- Compile system check out testing paperwork and perform system tests to verify proper functionality.
- Maintain and mark-up record set drawings to reflect changes made during the implementation of the job
- Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve advanced technical issues with AVLA equipment and environments in a timely manner.
- Organize wiring and hardware installation into racks with cable management
- Ensure proper documentation and system testing
- Provide training on system operations to clients

Educational and Experience Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in commercial AVLA industry
- Excellent customer service skills
- Valid Driver's License, a clean driving record, and reliable transportation required
- Ability to obtain formal approved clearances (Government or system specific) may be required
- Extensive experience with construction equipment, including scaffolding, lifts, hoists, pulleys, etc.
- Formal education in Audio Visual, Electronics or related field preferred
- Certifications such as CTS, Extron, Q-SYS, AMX, Crestron are preferred
- Basic computer knowledge
- Knowledge of complex wiring configurations and/or signal flow for audio, video, control, network
- Knowledge and application of industry installation safety codes and standards
- Experience with AV system installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance
- Strong leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively
- High School Diploma or GED
Physical Requirements:

- Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to climb ladders up to 26' tall. Occasional use of a man-lift up to 40' will also be required.
- Must be able to work in small spaces as needed that may require climbing, kneeling and crouching.
- Specific vision acuity requirements include close vision, depth perception, and color recognition in order to ensure image quality.
- Specific hearing requirements include the ability to hear sounds clearly and recognize the difference between them in order to recognize sound quality.
Things to Consider:
Typical business hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
AAVS reserves the right to alter work hours and work location as necessary. Flexibility is necessary for occasional late shifts, weekend shifts, travel and/or overnights as special projects may require.
This position will generally work on customer sites and may often deal with a construction site type of work environment.
